Question: hello, a friend once told that i can browse on MULTIPLE monitors connected to a KVM SWITCH, just wanted to know if yours can do it? thanks
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. There are a number of Dual monitor KVM units on the market today. Unfortunately, this Belkin unit is not one of them. Here is a selection of some of the dual/multi-monitor KVMs we offer: https://www.kvm-switches-online.com/dual-head-kvm-switch.html.

You should also note that a dual/multi-monitor KVM will not add multi-monitor capability to a computer that does not already have multiple monitor capability

Question: Can one use this to control PCs and not servers.
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, this unit will support a PC, as long as each machine meets the erquired specifications. This particular KVM switch is for USB and/or PS/2 enabled computers with single VGA ports. The operating systems supported include SunSoft Solaris 8, Novell NetWare 5.x, Microsoft DOS 5.x or later, Apple MacOS X, Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Red Hat Linux 8.x, Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP, Microsoft Windows Vista.

It does not appear this KVM is compatible with Windows 7 or Windows 8.

Question: Is there flash-upgrade firmware available so one can use with XP, Vista, Windows 7, and 8.1
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. There is a firmware upgrade available for this switch located at the Belkin support site: http://www.belkin.com/us/support-article?rnId=8649

Unfortunately, due to fundamental changes in the way Windows uses the monitor's Extended display identification data (EDID), to be compatible with Windows 7 and 8.1, this switch would likely need a hardware upgrade.

That being said, according to Belkin, this switch should work with the following operating systems SunSoft Solaris 8, Novell NetWare 5.x, Microsoft DOS 5.x or later, Apple MacOS X, Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Red Hat Linux 8.x, Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP, Microsoft Windows Vista.

Question: Can you please tell me which 8 port switch will work with XP, vista, W7 and W8.1. Hard to find one and needs to be as cheap as possible.
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. We are not hearing much in the way of Windows 8.1 compatibility. We suspect that Windows 8 and KVMs will have the same trouble as Windows 7 and KVMs. The main issue is the way in which Windows 7 uses the EDID/DDC (Extended display identification data/Display Data Channel) information. It continuously polls for the data, so you need to find a switch the continuously provides the monitor data to the target machines. Unfortunitly, the older, cheaper KVMs just won't have that funcitonality.

This Adder unit, https://www.kvm-switches-online.com/avx1008.html, provides DDC emulation that should work with Windows 7 and would likely work with Windows 8. Due to the varied nature of user environments however, we could not 100% guarantee compatibility.

Question: Will this switch work with W7 and W8.1, Belkin OmniView PRO2 - KVM switch - 8 ports - 1 local user - 1U - stackable
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. Due to the new way in which Windows 7 and 8 handle monitor EDID information and USB peripherals, older switches, like the OmniView PRO2, may have issues with these newer operating systems. Mainly issues will arise with the monitor information for the non-active targets. They may "forget" the resolution settings for the attached monitor.

Question: TRENDnet TK-802R 8-Port PS/2 Rack Mount KVM Switch with OSD, Will this switch work with W7 and W8.1
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. We are not familiar with that TRENDnet product. Having briefly looked at the specs however, we would be reluctant to say that it would definitely work with Windows 7 or Windows 8.1. Since it is VGA and PS/2 KVM, it is entirely possible it will work just fine, but we would suggest contacting the manufacturer for specific compatibility.

Question: If this compatible for OS Windows Server 2012
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. The specifications as listed by Belkin include the following operating systems: OS Required: SunSoft Solaris 8, Novell NetWare 5.x, Microsoft DOS 5.x or later, Apple MacOS X, Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Red Hat Linux 8.x, Microsoft Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP, Microsoft Windows Vista. Unfortunately, Windows Server 2012 is not listed.

As this is a hardware based solution, that does not require any drivers or software, in the past we would not have hesitated to say that it would function with a particular operating system. Now however, newer operating systems like Windows 7 and later, have changed how they deal with display identification and USB peripherals. This has caused some older KVMs to lose functionality.

Long story short, it is likely this switch would work with Windows Server 2012, but it may not have optimal and/or full functionality and we could not guarantee compatibility.

Question: What is the part # for the cables?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. The cables for this unit are -
For USB: F1D9401-12 (https://www.kvm-switches-online.com/f1d9401-12.html) or F1D9401-06 (https://www.kvm-switches-online.com/f1d9401-06.html)

For PS/2:F1D9400-06 (https://www.kvm-switches-online.com/f1d9400-06.html) or F1D9400-10 (https://www.kvm-switches-online.com/f1d9400-10.html).

Question: Hi, I will to know if this product is conform CSA or cUL standard. Regard
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. According to the manufacturer, the F1DA108Z is UL certified.

Question: Is this fully compatipable with the discontinued F1DA108T?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

The Belkin PRO3 (F1DA108Z) KVM switches are compatible with PRO2 (F1DA108T) KVM switches. If you want to cascade the units, the F1DA108Z has to be configured as the primary device.

However, the Keyboard-Video-Mouse cables used for the F1DA108Z would be different from the ones used with the F1DA108T.
