The SmartAVI HR-2PS is a HDMI Router/Switch 2Port Includes HR-2P and PS5VDC1A-C. Using SmartAVI's HR-2PS, it is possible to connect two HDMI components to one display screen for seamless switching between sources. Transmit high-definition source such as Blu-ray player, gaming console, computer or cable receiver easily while viewing on one HDTV monitors. This is perfect for educational lectures, corporate meeting rooms, bars and lounges.
A great example of the HR-2PS in action would be a bar showing a live football game; during half time, the unit could be switched to another source for entertainment such as music videos on DVD or Blu-ray, another sports even via cable or satellite or even a PowerPoint presentation from a computer displaying half time specials on drinks and appetizers, etc. Once the game resumes, the display can be switched right back using the unit's infrared control from anywhere in the building.

Question: I am looking for a HDMI 2x1 that I can wire in my own button. It's for children's museum use so a video game button (microswitch) will be used for interface

You could get a 2 Port HDMI KVM with physical push buttons for switching like the SmartAVI HR-2P, and wire each of the physical buttons to the Micro Switch, which in turn you would wire to the video game button. That being said, please note that this is by no means supported functionality and can cause fire or serious injury if wired wrong.
