The Cybex SC945D secure desktop KVM is designed to meet the stringent specifications of the U.S. government and comply with the requirements of the latest NAIP protection profile for peripheral sharing devices version 3.0. The SC945D delivers proven security features such as unidirectional data diode technology, which assures complete network isolation while offering user-friendly, easy switching between sources. A Dedicated Peripheral Port permits a secure connection to external USB devices, including CAC smart card readers, fingerprint readers and face recognition devices. Patented emulation technology prevents Display Data Channel (DDC) signal leakage; and guards against signal attacks.

Industry-leading security features are complemented with a range of capabilities and productivity features that make the Cybex SC945D a great investment. Experience true image reproduction with support for Display Port 1.2, which delivers resolutions up to UHD 4K (3840X2160 @ 30). NUM Lock, CAPS Lock and Scroll Lock indicators improve user interaction while maintaining unidirectional data flow from peripherals to PC. Additional usability features include, zero delay switching between connected sources and flexible assignment of audio devices.

The Cybex SC945D KVM switch delivers strong, effective security management designed to tightly control system and network access and deliver transparent security that does not impede user productivity

  • Outstanding security - Designed to meet the requirements of the latest National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) Protection Profile V3.0 for peripheral-sharing devices.
  • Support for USB authentication devices - A dedicated peripheral port supports CAC and additional types of authentication devices, such as facial recognition and fingerprint readers.
  • Discrete processing paths - Isolated ports on the switch provide discrete processing paths to each system, preventing data leakage, transfer or crosstalk between adjacent ports.
  • Unique NUM Lock, CAPS Lock and Scroll Lock indicators - While the Cybex series maintains unidirectional data flow, it also provides indicators that alert users when the NUM Lock, CAPS Lock or Scroll Lock is on to improve ease of use.
  • Gain true image reproduction and display flexibility - Cybex KVM switches offer the industry's broadest range of video connections. The SC945D supports Display Port 1.2, which delivers resolutions up to UHD 4K (3840X2160 @ 30).

Question: Is the 945D fully DisplayPort? The picture shows DP for the computer side, but HDMI for the monitor/keyboard side...
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

I have confirmed that Avocent 945D is fully DisplayPort (DP in, DP out). The image with the HDMI output may be the wrong image, or a series image that Avocent used on multiple KVMs of the same series - I will fix the image online asap. Thank you for the heads up!

Question: I see that the title description of the sc945D includes EAL4+. However this apparent NIAP certification is not listed under Device Support/Certifications. At what level is this device certified through NIAP or perhaps it's not?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

The Cybex SC945D secure desktop KVM is designed to meet the stringent specifications of the U.S. government and comply with the requirements of the latest NIAP protection profile for peripheral sharing devices version 3.0.

This is the response I received from Avocent regarding their EAL rating for that switch (paraphrased): The US base Common Criteria chose to no longer issue EAL ratings, so the SC945D was certified to EAL4+ by the Canadian Common Criteria certification body. The SC945D adheres to the protection profile for Peripheral Sharing Devices (rating for KVM switches) 3.0.

Question: Is the peripheral port on this switch USB 3.0 or 2.0? The USB Type A (Peripheral) port appears to be blue (aka. 3.0) but the USB Type B Port (Console) appears to be USB 3.0 without the extra connectors.
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. The USB Peripheral port on the Avocent SC945D is indeed version 3.0. If you would like a recommendation based on your application, please feel free to contact your KVM Switches Online sales representative.

Question: Will this KVM support DisplayPort daisy-chaining with supported monitors? We understand that the DisplayPort 1.2 standard supports up to 4 monitors out from a single connection so we are trying to use this KVM to drive 8 monitors. Is that possible?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

Per Avocent engineering, their Secure Switches (SC models) don't support DisplayPort daisy-chaining (MST / Multi-Stream-Transport), and most likely will not due to the nature of NIAP-certified secure switches. Engineering did however confirm that their SwitchView KVM switches (SV models: SV340D, SV220D, and SV240D) do support MST - The SV340D would be the comparable non-NIAP certified model to this SC945D.

The SV340D supports right around 7.46 Gbps of Total Signal Bandwidth (~2.49 Gbps per channel) - not quite full DP 1.2 spec; 8 displays from 1 input port (4 from each monitor port) may run into bandwidth limitations depending on some factors like cable length and preferred resolution. However, even if the SV340D does not end up working for your application, we do have other solutions that would support 8 displays: Keyboard-Mouse Switches (i.e. Adder CCS-PRO4-US), KVM-Over-IP Switches (32 ports - 1 for each monitor), Video Walls, and IP Gateways, depending on your application. For a recommendation on the ideal solution for your application, please feel free to contact your KVM Switches Online sales representative directly.
