Question: Hi, my question is about the input signal. The switch comes with 8 DVI-I connectors. May I connect a VGA input signal using VGA/DVI-I adaptor with this switch, or we must only use DVI signal? If this switch accept only DVI-D signal, why are 8 female DVI-I single link connectors are provided?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

The NTI SM-8x8-DVI video switch only supports digital DVI signals -passive VGA/DVI adapters would not be compatible- but you can use Adder DVI VGA to DVI converters to plug in VGA video sources. You can also plug VGA displays as outputs using NTI DVI-VGA DVI to VGA converters.

The SM-8x8-DVI switch features DVI-I connectors for greater flexibility so you can use single-link DVI-I or DVI-D cables (DVI-I connectors are backwards compatible with DVI-D).
