Cybex SVKM140 Features

  • Cursor navigation switching lets users switch control between systems by simply moving the mouse cursor from one display monitor to another. Both audio and keyboard follow the cursor from one computer to the next.
  • Instant mouse and keyboard switching via emulation assures zero delay when switching between systems.
  • Independent audio and USB switching gives users the ability to freeze audio and USB devices to a specific channel so these feeds are maintained as the cursor switches between system monitors.
  • Managed copy and paste allows content to be copied from one system to another. Copy and paste can be managed with built-in controls to specify what can be copied, such as allowing a user to copy numbers only in a specific format.
  • High-speed mobile device charging port provides a quick way to charge mobile phones and other devices.
  • Pre-set display configurations are easily modified for specific environments with a user-friendly administrator tool, enabling flexible assignment of USB devices for each user.

Question: How to use the front USB ports on a SVKM140. I can't find any documentation on this.
Answer: This switch has (3)USB 3.0 which can be switched independently of keyboard/mouse/video. These ports can also be Enabled/Disabled per channel as well as Frozen for ensuring transfers before switching. There should be some options in the On Screen Display for this as well and could be the cause for issues. While I'll continue to look for more, here is a little more I was able to find about the SV Switches.

Question: Will the SCKM140-001 KVM switch recognize a keyboard with a built-in CAC card/badge reader? Thank you.
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

The USB port at the back of the unit for keyboard only supports standard keyboard connection ("USB-HID" signal passthrough) due to security requirements for NIAP-Certifying a KVM Switch. If you want to connect a keyboard with built-in CAC card/badge reader, you should be able to connect it at the front USB port of the unit, and leave they keyboard port empty. However, beware that this would bypass the NIAP security functionality for preventing keylogging the keyboard. The safest configuration would be a standard wired keyboard, and a stand-alone CAC reader.

Question: What features for this km switch require software installed on the PC and which do not? I am looking at controlling 3-4 laptops 2 of which I don't have administrator access to and probably won't be able to install any software for.
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

For the most part the Avocent SVKM140 does not require any software for regular operation; Avocent only provides separate drivers for supporting "Copy-Paste" across computer sources, and for Multi-Monitor source switching.

Question: Can you daisy-chain these units
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

The Avocent Vertiv SVKM140 units are designed to function individually and cannot be daisy-chained together.

Please feel free to contact your KVM Switches Online sales representative directly for a recommendation on a command center solution based on your application.

Question: Can we use SVKM140 for Chromebox device with Chrome OS?
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry,

Avocent (by Vertiv) has tested this and found that the Chromebox is incompatible with the SVKM140-001. It doesn't respond to keyboard and mouse function altogether and therefore cannot be used together at the moment. Cursor navigation will not work as well.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can help you with!

Question: What OS is this unit compatible with? My users work in both Windows and Mac OS environments.
Answer: Thank you for your inquiry. This device will work with the following operating systems:

- Microsoft? Windows?
- Red Hat?, Ubuntu? or any other Linux? platform
- Mac OS? X version 10.3 or higher
